Handheld Tools (Verified)
These items appear in released gameplay and community guides. Most make puzzles easier but are rarely required — the real question is whether to leave a puzzle to fetch one or solve it with what you have.

Carry & Inventory

Unverified Mentions
Pre-release or secondary sources listed a Paraglider, Climbing Pick, Shovel and Metal Detector. These have not been confirmed in shipped builds and are not counted in the verified list above.
Mobile Systems
Beyond handhelds, the world itself opens up through tower unlocks. Each tower grants a movement tool, and together they form the travel network:
| System | Details |
|---|---|
| Tunnels | Fastest travel network; unlocked by the Yellow Tower. Connects the main regions. |
| Cable Car (Chairlift) | Unlocked by the Green Tower; the only route to the east-ridge challenge area. |
| Train / Monorail | The Blue Tower unlocks the monorail; three-coloured trains (red/yellow/green) appear in the world. See the start-the-train guide. |
| Shortcuts | Easily missed, often triggered by a stack or a tool; your triumphs are yours to find. |
How the Tools Fit the Loop
Inventory is limited to what you can physically carry, and consulting the paper map means asking a buddy to help you out of the backpack. That small friction is the point: Big Walk wants cooperation to be a verb, not a menu. Pair this page with the controls page and the tower order page to see when each unlock arrives.
