Is There Split-Screen / Local Co-Op?
No. Big Walk does not support local split-screen or same-screen "couch co-op." Steam's store tags confirm there is no shared-screen local mode. Each player needs their own device, their own copy of the game, and an online connection to the hosted session.
What "Co-Op" Means Here
Big Walk is online co-op for 2 to 12 players. One player hosts; everyone else joins that host's world over the network. Crossplay works between Steam, PS5 and Switch 2 on the same version, so a PC player and a console player can be in the same session even though neither is "on the couch" with the other.
Can We Still Play in the Same Room?
Yes — you just each bring your own screen. A common setup is several friends in one living room, each on their own laptop or console, all joined to the same host. You get the social energy of couch play with the networking of online co-op. Just remember voice is proximity-based in-game, so if you're literally next to each other you may want to mute mics and talk normally — or keep the in-game voice on for the authentic "voice fades with distance" feel.
Player-Count Versions
When the host starts a session they choose a group size — 2, 3, or 4+ — and the island subtly tweaks its puzzles to suit. So a duo and a twelve-person party face slightly different versions of the same world. There is no single-player mode at any count.
