Is Big Walk Crossplay?
Yes. Cross-platform play is supported between Steam (PC), PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2, as long as everyone is on the same game version. A Steam player, a PS5 player and a Switch 2 player can share the same session.
There Is No Single-Player Mode
Big Walk is online co-op only. You need a minimum of two players and can play with up to 12. There is no offline or solo option, and Steam tags confirm there is no local / split-screen co-op either (see is it couch co-op).
Voice Is Proximity-Only
The game uses proximity voice chat — no separate external voice system is built in. Using Steam or Discord voice is widely treated by the community as a "cheat code" that removes the intended friction, so outside voice is discouraged. Plan to talk in-game.
Host Saves the Session
The host's machine holds the save data. To keep playing the same world, the same host opens the session again and friends rejoin. When setting up, the host picks a player-count version (2, 3, or 4+) and the island subtly adjusts its puzzles to fit.
Join Codes — Status: To Be Confirmed
Many co-op games use a shareable join code so a host can hand friends a short string to drop in. For Big Walk, the exact join-code mechanism has not been conclusively verified in shipped builds at the time of writing. What we can say with confidence:
- Cross-platform sessions work between Steam, PS5 and Switch 2 on the same version.
- The host creates the session; friends join that host's world (the host saves progress).
- The precise "code vs friend-list vs invite" flow is still being confirmed by the community.
We will not invent a join-code steps list. Once the mechanism is verified (via official FAQ or a reliable community guide), this page will show the exact flow. If you've confirmed it in-game, share it in the Steam Community Hub so we can document it.
Unverified: Epic / Other Stores
Some pre-release mentions referenced Epic or other store fronts. At launch the confirmed storefronts are Steam, PlayStation Store and Nintendo eShop (Switch 2). Anything beyond those is unverified.
