Big Walk Glossary — Terms & Jargon

New to Big Walk and hearing words like "blorb" and "purple challenge"? Here's a plain-English glossary of the terms you'll meet, grouped by what they're about.

Gameplay Terms

  • Blorb — the glowing puzzle object you place/activate to clear a tower's challenges. Tower puzzles are "blorb puzzles."
  • Drawbridge — the tutorial's opening puzzle that opens the world.
  • Shiny / Get Shiny — the hidden makeover that unlocks the Big Makeover achievement.
  • Tool / Toy — the backpack gadgets (flashlight, camera, bell, flare, radio, walkie-talkie, and so on).

World & Map Terms

  • Tower — one of four story landmarks (Red, Green, Yellow, Blue) you clear in any order.
  • Map Room — unlocked by the Red Tower; gives you the double-sided island map and compass.
  • Radio Station — collectible music stations scattered across the island.
  • Monorail / Train — the long-distance transport unlocked after the Blue Tower.
  • Tunnels — the fastest travel network, unlocked after the Yellow Tower.

Multiplayer Terms

  • Co-op — the only way to play: 2–12 players online, no single-player mode.
  • Crossplay — Steam, PS5 and Switch 2 share one version and can play together.
  • Proximity Voice — your real voice fades with distance across the map.
  • Walkie-Talkie — the item that keeps far-apart teammates talking.
  • Host — the player whose session holds the world state in crossplay.

Progression Terms

  • Big Goodbye — the normal finale after the four towers.
  • Purple Challenge — one of seven post-game puzzles required for the 100% true ending.
  • True / 100% Ending — the secret ending unlocked by all seven purple challenges.
  • Achievement — one of 12 Steam unlocks (e.g. Big View, Big Sit, Big Ride, Big Makeover).
