Can You Play Big Walk Solo?

The short answer is no: Big Walk has no single-player mode. But there are a few ways to still get a session going if you're on your own.

The Short Answer: No

Big Walk is co-op only. There is no single-player campaign, no offline mode, and no bots to fill seats. The game is built for 2–12 players online, with crossplay across Steam, PS5 and Switch 2 in one version. If you boot it up alone, you'll be able to look around a menu, but you can't progress through the world by yourself.

Why There's No Solo Mode

Almost every puzzle and tower is designed around communication between real people — describing what you see, relaying positions, syncing actions. A single player simply can't supply the second perspective the game needs. That's a design choice, not a missing feature: House House and Panic built Big Walk as a hangout, not a solo quest.

What You Can Do Alone

  • Launch the game and explore the front-end menus.
  • Set up a session and generate a join code to invite others.
  • Join a friend's hosted game via crossplay.

What you can't do: clear towers, open the drawbridge, or reach any ending without at least one other player. Our couch co-op guide covers local-play nuances.

How to Play If You're Solo

  • Invite a friend who owns the game on any supported platform (crossplay means PC, PS5 and Switch 2 players share sessions).
  • Join a public or code-based lobby — the community runs open groups, especially around launch.
  • Play in the same room with a family member or housemate, each on their own device (still co-op, not split-screen — see couch co-op).

Each player needs their own copy of the game; there's no guest-pass or share-play progression.

Bottom Line

If "can I play by myself" is a hard requirement, Big Walk isn't the game for you yet. If you have one friend, it's more than enough — and crossplay makes finding that person easy. Weigh the fit in our who-it's-for guide.

"No single-player mode" is confirmed in the game's own store listing and our crossplay write-up. Each player requires a separate copy; there are no bots.

Playing with friends instead?

If solo is a dealbreaker, the better path is a co-op session — here's how crossplay and join codes work.
