Privacy Policy

What we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can opt out.

Last updated: August 9, 2026

This privacy policy explains how bigwalkguide.site (the "Site", "we", "us") handles information when you visit our Big Walk guides. We keep this deliberately plain-language: we are a small fan-run wiki, we do not run user accounts, and we do not sell personal data.

1. Who We Are

bigwalkguide.site is an independent, fan-made community wiki. We are the data controller for information collected through this Site. You can reach us at [email protected].

2. Information We Collect

We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not operate contact forms, comment sections or newsletters. There is no field on this Site where you type personal information. What is collected happens automatically, or because you chose to email us.

We do not knowingly collect names, postal addresses, phone numbers or payment information, because there is nowhere on this Site to submit them.

3. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. This Site itself does not set cookies for logins or personalisation, but the third-party services below may set cookies or use similar identifiers:

You can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Blocking cookies will not break the guides on this Site.

4. Analytics — Google Analytics 4

We use Google Analytics 4 (provided by Google LLC) to measure traffic and understand how our guides are used. Google Analytics collects data such as pages viewed, session duration, referral source, approximate geographic region and device information.

We have IP anonymisation enabled by default (GA4 does not log or store full IP addresses), and we do not use Google Analytics to build advertising audiences from this Site's visitors.

You can opt out of Google Analytics entirely by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Google's own handling of this data is described in Google's Privacy Policy.

5. Advertising

This Site may display advertising to cover hosting and maintenance costs. Ads are served by third-party advertising networks, which may include Google AdSense and other display advertising partners.

Advertising has no influence over our editorial content. See our editorial standards.

6. Third-Party Links and Embeds

Our guides link to external sites such as Steam, YouTube, Metacritic and community forums, and may embed video content. When you follow a link or load an embed, that third party may collect data about you under its own privacy policy. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of external sites.

7. Hosting and Security

This Site is served as a static website through a commercial hosting and CDN provider, which processes request data (including IP address) to deliver pages and protect against attacks. We do not operate a database of visitors and we do not store personal information on our own servers.

8. How Long We Keep Data

9. Your Rights (GDPR — EEA and UK)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Where we rely on consent (for example, personalised advertising cookies), you may withdraw consent at any time.

Our legal bases are: consent for advertising and analytics cookies where required, and legitimate interests for maintaining the security and integrity of the Site.

To exercise any right, email [email protected] with the subject [Privacy]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

10. Your Rights (CCPA/CPRA — California)

California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell personal information as that term is commonly understood. The use of advertising cookies by third parties may be considered "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising under the CPRA — you can opt out using the advertising opt-out links in Section 5, or by enabling a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

11. Children's Privacy

This Site is a general-audience gaming resource and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, email us and we will delete it.

12. International Transfers

Our hosting, analytics and advertising providers may process data on servers located outside your country, including in the United States. These providers rely on recognised transfer mechanisms such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the Site changes — for example, if we add or remove an advertising partner. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised policy.

14. Contact

Questions about this policy, or about how your data is handled, go to [email protected]. More ways to reach us are on the contact page.
